The Pope Prep Physical Education program aims to be an integral part of the educational process by contributing to the whole child’s well-being through knowledge, motor skills, self-discipline, and outlets to adopt an active and healthy lifestyle.  Through middle school physical education courses designed to promote wellness, coaches will discuss nutrition and health as they provide students with opportunities to develop and maintain physical fitness, physical competence, cognitive understanding and positive attitudes about physical activity. The course includes an introduction to weight training to learn proper form and technique using body weight and bars. Students will benefit from the experience of Coach Kim deMarigny, Coach Justin Geisinger (USAW/National Strength & Conditioning Association - All American) and Coach Matt Hanson (USAW Certified).

For middle school athletes, participation on a Pope athletic team replaces the physical education course during the season as they attend in-school practice for both individual and team sports.  Pope middle school athletes have a unique opportunity to join teams led by the Pope high school coaching staff, who offer years of coaching experience and expertise.

Pope Prep offers some of the finest athletic facilities in the state of Tennessee, from our TBCA award-winning baseball field to our multipurpose turf field at the Jim Carell Athletic Complex. Our athletic facilities also include a full-length natural grass soccer field, six tennis courts, a wrestling gym, a track and field complex, a softball field, as well as a competition basketball gym and an auxiliary gym. Additionally, Pope Athletics recently added a lacrosse wall, archery range, and short-game golf facility featuring a synthetic putting green along with a natural green for chip and short iron shots.
