Nurse

The Student Health Center provides health services to currently enrolled students. The school nurse is available from 7:45 a.m. until 3:30 p.m. each day. The Student Health Center offers nursing care and triage for acute and chronic illness, early detection of illness, health counseling and teaching, healthcare procedures and treatments, assistance with administration of prescribed medication and treatments, First Aid medical care and treatments, administration of non-prescription medications, and crisis intervention. The school nurse initiates referrals to parents, school counselors, community health resources, and community mental health professionals for appropriate care as needed.

Magnus Health

Pope Prep uses Magnus Health for all student health information. Magnus Health enables us to better track documents, gives parents continuous access for changes, and provides our athletic trainers and nurse with the necessary information for all of our students. Please refer to the steps outlined below and complete your student's information by July 31.

To access your Magnus Health account

Complete all Required Tasks and Forms

Pope Prep requires all students (regardless of athletic participation) to complete all necessary medical forms and questions every year. These include:

Student Vital Health Record: Please answer all questions.
Immunization Form: The nurse will upload your student immunization records that were submitted as part of the Admissions application process. Unless you are notified by the nurse, you do not need to complete this area.
Medical Eligibility Form: Students are required to have an annual physical examination and submit a Medical Eligibility Form to the school before July 31. Athletes should submit their eligibility form before tryouts or practice for their particular sports team but at least within one year of their previous physical. The Medical Eligibility Form should be printed and signed by both a physician and a parent or guardian. *Do not turn in the form to the nurse. The nurse will not upload the form for students.
Consent to Treat: Please electronically sign your consent for treatment.
Over-The-Counter Medication Form: Please give your permission for your student to receive various over-the-counter medications while at school or during a school-related activity.
Prescription Drug Form: Must be completed for all prescription medications that will be sent with a student during the school day. The form must be signed by a physician.
Action Plans: Necessary forms should be completed if the student has asthma, severe allergies, or a seizure disorder. Forms must be signed by a physician.
Sudden Cardiac Arrest Symptoms and Warnings: This form should be printed and signed by the student and parent/guardian.
Concussion Form: This form should be printed and signed by the student and parent/guardian.
Transportation Permission Form: The top portion of this form must be completed for all students. The bottom portion of this form is specifically for athletic transportation.

Once all forms and questions have been completed, the information will be reviewed by the nurse and marked as approved. Parents/Guardians should have all information submitted by July 31 to ensure their students can participate in school activities. Parents of athletes should complete all forms before practice or traveling with their respective teams.

New Families and Veracross Accounts

All new families for the 2023-2024 school year only have access to the admissions portal within Veracross. Parent accounts will be established at the end of June after all grades have been finalized, seniors have matriculated out of the system, and the Registrar can update all student profiles to their 2023-2024 school year grade level. You will receive a setup email and be able to use this login information to access the parent portal at the end of this process. In the meantime, please use this time to gather the information required to complete the Magnus Health account process once you are active in the system.

Magnus Mobile App

Magnus Health has a mobile app to access and complete your student health forms. Please visit the Magnus Quick Start Guide for instructions to download and use the Magnus Health app. Please note you will need to establish your login information for the app through the Magnus Health website by completing the following steps:

Navigate to the Magnus Health Portal Login button from your Veracross Parent Portal.
When you are logged into Magnus Health, hover over your name in the upper left corner of the screen.
Choose "Change Credentials."
Create a Username & Password that only you know and will remember. These will be the credentials that you will use for the mobile app login only. This will not change how you access the Magnus Health Portal through your Veracross Parent Account.
On your mobile device, download the new mobile app that is named "Magnus Health" from the Apple Store or the Google Play store.
Log into the new Magnus Health mobile app from your phone using your new username & password.

Annual Physical

ANNUAL PHYSICALS for 2023-2024 ALL Pope Prep students (regardless of athletic participation) are required to have an annual physical examination before July 31. Athletes should submit their Medical Eligibility Form prior to tryouts or practice for their particular sports team but at least within one year of their previous physical.

NOTE: Pope Prep does not need a physician-provided physical form, only a Pope Prep Medical Eligibility Form signed by a physician. Parents must upload the form to Magnus Health.

Illness/Injury

If a student becomes ill or is injured at school, the student should visit the nurse. The nurse will assess the student and, if necessary, will call the parent or guardian to pick up the student. The nurse will care for the student in the interim. In the event the illness or injury requires emergency action, the nurse will call 911, and the parents immediately after that.

If a student wakes up feeling sick, is vomiting, or has a fever, the student should stay home. Students are asked to be fever-free for 24 hours before returning to school.

If a student misses three or more consecutive days of school for an illness, they will need a doctor's note to return to school.

If a student has a contagious condition such as pink eye, mononucleosis, etc., please let the nurse know as soon as possible. Students will need to stay home until a doctor provides clearance to return.

Illness and Return to School

Illness and Return to School Policy Please follow the guidelines in deciding when to keep your student at home: If your student has a fever > 100.0 F, diarrhea not caused by diet or medications, vomiting, or has been diagnosed with the flu, you will need to keep your student at home for 24 hours AFTER symptoms resolve and your student is fever-free.
