Freshmen are required to complete at least 15 hours of service. 

Sophomores are required to complete at least 20 hours of service.

Juniors are required to complete at least 25 hours of service. 

Seniors are required to complete at least 25 hours of service. 

Middle school students do not have a service requirement. 

To cultivate each student as a minister of Christ, all students must complete a service requirement every school year. Each high school grade level is required to do a minimum of five hours of service at a pre-approved non-profit organization; ideally this organization aligns with the service theme for the students’ grade. The remainder of the required hours may be completed at a non-profit or community based organization, church or place of worship, or in service to Pope John Paul II Preparatory School (outside of the normal school day hours). The purpose of focusing on a service theme for each grade is to foster a culture of discussion and reflection so that service learning is not an isolated event for each student; rather, the shared experience works to provide a foundation in class for students to share their experiences and discuss them in a larger context. By the end of four years of high school, each student will graduate with at least four different service experiences that broaden the scope of material and spiritual poverty encountered by a Pope Prep student.

X2VOL Frequently Asked Questions

1. How do I submit my hours?
   1. Watch this video: How-To Video (right-click and select ‘open link’).
2. How many service hours do I need to have?
   1. Freshmen are required to complete at least 15 hours of service.

Students may serve the remaining hours at a non-profit organization, church or place of worship, or in service to Pope John Paul II Preparatory School (outside of the regular school day hours). To guarantee that hours will be approved, students with questions about service must speak to the Service Coordinator before undertaking the service. 

1. What are the “goals”?
   1. Each grade level has two goals. One goal is dedicated to the five non-profit hours, and one goal is dedicated to the remaining hours of service that can be done through a non-profit, school, or church.  You must assign each entry to a specific goal, or it cannot be approved.
2. I submitted my hours. Why are they not approved?
   1. You need to make sure that you have a complete description. These should be two or more sentences. The description should describe your role and responsibilities. You also need to make sure you have applied your hours to a specific goal. NEW: You may add a reflection, but it is no longer required. However, you must type “N/A” or “Not Required” in the reflection text box, or it will not allow you to submit your hours. 
3. I submitted all of my hours to the church, school, and non-profit goal. Why is it saying I did not complete my hours?
   1. You need to make sure that when you submit your hours, you are submitting five non-profit hours to the non-profit goal.  This may mean that you need to submit two separate entries.  For example, if you went to Haiti and received 40 hours, you need to submit five of those hours as a separate entry for the non-profit goal and the remaining 35 hours to the other goal.
4. I already submitted all of my hours, and they have been approved, but I forgot to take five out for the non-profit goal. What should I do?
   1. You need to copy and paste your description and reflection into a separate place, delete the entry, and re-create two separate entries. Both entries can have the same description and reflection, but one needs to be applied to the non-profit goal, and one needs to be applied to the other goal.  
5. Where can I go to get service hours?

   2. Look at the X2VOL Bulletin Board on the Home Page.
   3. Check your local church or place of worship’s bulletin or announcement board. 
   4. Listen for service opportunities that are given in the morning announcement or emailed by the Ministry and Service office. 
   5. Talk to your friends - it can be easier to try out something new with someone else! 
6. Can I still submit service hours from the summer? What is the cut-off date?
   1. Any service hours completed from the end of the previous school year (e.g., from May 25th of 2019 onward) may count towards the upcoming school year (e.g., the 2019-2020 school year). The same cut off applies as all other hours - any summer hours from the summer before the upcoming school year must be submitted by April 30th of the current school year. For example: if I served at the JPII Model UN camp from June 12-June 18th of 2019 and gained ten hours of service, I may apply those ten hours at any point during the 2019-2020 school to my service hour goals. When you submit your entry, you must have the date set in June of 2019 or after. You may include the official date (from May 25th - May 31st) in your description.
7. Do I need to submit a description for each entry if they are all the same?
   1. YES! Each entry needs its own description because multiple adults are able to approve your hours in the building.
8. I forgot my log-in information and/or password. Or I’m honestly not sure if I’ve ever created an x2Vol account. Help!?
   1. If you are an incoming freshman who has not started school yet, or you are an incoming transfer student, then you do NOT have an account and will not have one until school starts. If you’re gaining service hours during the summer, simply keep track of them on your own, and we will help teach you how to input them during the fall once we onboard you to x2Vol. 
   2. If you are a current student - then you have created an x2Vol account. The first step is to always go through the x2Vol website, NOT the app, and select the “Forgot Password” option on the log-in page. You’ll be asked to enter your JP2HS email and reset your password. 
   3. If that does not work, or you receive a message in error, then email x2Vol at this email address: support@intellivol.com. Please state your name, the name of our school, and clearly explain your problem and the steps you’ve taken. They are very quick to respond and can generally clear up any log-in issues.
