Scholarships

Pope John Paul II Preparatory School is excited to announce three new scholarship opportunities for 2024-2025 incoming JPII students.

The Bishop Scholarships, including the Bishop Welcome Scholarship, Bishop Bridge Scholarship, and the JPII Excellence Scholarship, result from generous donors who believe that Catholic education should be accessible to as many students as possible. These awards are named Bishop Scholarships in honor of the continued support of each of the Nashville Catholic Diocese’s bishops throughout JPII’s 21-year history: Bishop Edward Kmiec (1992-2004), Bishop David Choby (2005-2017), and our current beloved Bishop J. Mark Spalding (2018-present). We are grateful for the Diocese of Nashville’s unwavering support for Catholic education and donors who support our mission.

Bishop Welcome Scholarship

The Bishop Welcome Scholarship was established to reach Catholic students entering the 6th-10th grade and who are new to Catholic education. Any Catholic student whose family is a member in good standing at a parish in the Catholic Diocese of Nashville and attends a public or private school or is homeschooled is eligible. JPII offers a limited number of these $3,000 to $5,000 need-based scholarship awards. The scholarship will be added to any need-based financial aid award, and it is renewable annually for four years.

Bishop Bridge Scholarship

The Bishop Bridge Scholarship was designed to help bridge the gap between 8th-grade Catholic parochial school tuition rates and the cost of JPII’s 9th-grade tuition. JPII offers a limited number of these $3,000 to $5,000 need-based scholarship awards. The scholarship will be added to any need-based financial aid award, and it is renewable annually.

JPII Excellence Scholarship

The JPII Excellence Scholarship is merit-based and was developed with our namesake, Saint Pope John Paul II, in mind. JPII was a renaissance man who embraced life by reading voraciously, studying assiduously, playing soccer enthusiastically, acting and writing passionately, and praying constantly. This scholarship is for Catholic parochial school rising 9th-grade students who are recognized for their academic achievements and who live a Christ-centered life. JPII offers a limited number of these $7,500 scholarship awards. The scholarship is renewable annually through application.

Need Based Scholarships

No Athletic Scholarships Offered

It is a common misunderstanding that schools in Division II may give athletic scholarships. By rule of the TSSAA, no school may give athletic scholarships. If they do, the school is penalized, and the athlete loses eligibility. All students who attend Pope Prep, athlete or not, are eligible to apply for financial aid through FACTS and are awarded aid based on need.
